Murder Whiff in Ekbalpore Death

Police probing the mysterious death of 25-year-old trader Haider Ali inside a school in Ekbalpore has sought a 24-hour extension to ascertain the exact sequence of events that led to his death. A section of cops, though, suspect it’s a case of pre-planned murder.
Police said they have questioned the couple arrested in this case, Sajida Begum alias Sajda (22) and Sk Shakil (26), on Wednesday night and again on Thursday morning. “They were questioned face to face and also separately,” said an officer.
Officers are so far divided in their opinions. While a few officers from special squad of Port division and Ekbalpore suspect it’s a case of death due to a fall – either accidental or designed – another section maintained that it could well be a pre-planned murder.
At Lalbazar, officers said they are waiting for some forensic evidences to be analysed. “While there is no logic to technically believe that the victim had not fallen from the bathroom window, there is no proof yet that he was pushed from the height. In all probability, he fell off the terrace,” claimed a top officer. Both joint CP (crime) Vishal Garg and DC (port) Syed Waquar Raza said they won’t comment without going through the detailed probe report.
Police said the death took place on Sunday night itself around 9.30pm and not on Monday morning as was initially claimed. Sources insisted the woman had made all attempts to hide the fact that she met Haider regularly and that the relationship was physical for the past three months.
The couple lives in Ekbalpore on the third floor of a house adjacent to the school where Haider’s body was found.
